About Life in France

This site is independent and unofficial. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way connected to the French government or the Ministère de l'Intérieur. It was built by someone who went through the naturalisation process themselves, to make free practice material available to others doing the same.

The practice exam

The mock exam follows the format set by the arrêté du 10 octobre 2025: 40 multiple-choice questions, 45 minutes, a pass mark of 32/40 (80%), split between 28 knowledge questions and 12 real-life scenarios. Following the format doesn't make the questions official — always cross-check anything that matters against the government's own material.

Where the questions come from

Of the 413 questions in the bank, 373 come from citizenship study material and 40 real-life scenario questions were written with the help of AI and reviewed before publishing. When a question is AI-assisted, the trainer says so directly underneath its explanation, right where you're reading it.

Progress and accounts

Your practice history is saved in your browser. An optional Google sign-in to back up and sync that progress across devices is planned but not live yet — this page will be updated when it ships.
